Super Air Natique Reconditioning

Jump in and see how we turned a tired Super Air Nautique into a shining star of the water. This chill tale is all about the magic we worked, buffing out the old and polishing in the new, making this boat look and feel fresh again. Curious about how we did it? Keep reading for the full scoop on this cool transformation.

Boat Restoration

This Super Air Nautique came to us needing a complete face lift and it got every bit of that with our boat reconditioning and ceramic coating package. Years of sitting outside uncovered underneath trees led to sun and chemical oxidation on the exterior paint and a lot of grime build up on the interior.

Prep

We started with a full decontamination wash. Using degreasers, we stripped the first layer of grime off the exterior of the boat. This was followed by a hand wash and claybar to strip contaminants off that would interfere with the polish of painted surfaces. After finishing with the painted surfaces, we began preparing the interior for a full reconditioning. This involved a blow out and light wipe down to remove debris before moving the boat into our shop.

With no cover available, we elected to do the two stage polish before we did a deep clean to the interior. The exterior paint was covered in oxidation and chemical staining from years of abuse in the elements. We started by using a heavy cut marine polish to knock off the faded layer of clear coat on the outside, revealing a much deeper blue than arrived. Once the heavy cut is done, there was still micro imperfections left that we polished out with a final finish polish. This process left the deep blue on this Air Nautique popping in the sun.

Interior Reconditioning

After getting the dust and dirt out of the way first with the prep and polishing work, we finally moved onto the interior. This thing needed some love once we got it inside as mildew and mold had taken over the nice white leather seats. Additionally, the interior compartments had standing water in them that needed to be removed. We used our industrial Optima steamer and extractor to knock the grime off, while also fully decontaminating all surfaces of harmful bacteria. Once we finished restoring this Air Nautique to its former glory, we protected all of the seats and cushions with Modesta LPS (Leather Protection System).

Ceramic Coating/ Modesta Marine

Once we exposed this beautiful paint, we want to protect it in order to preserve the color. We do this by adding easy to clean hydrophobic layers on top of the clear.  Lastly, it is topped off with the best Marine Ceramic in the industry, Modesta Marine Ceramic Coating. We use Modesta's Marine Ceramic over all painted surfaces, even down below the water line for extra protection from harsh lake or ocean waters.
